Gray is looking for a Preconstruction Services Project Engineer to join our team in our Lexington, KY office.

  • Reviews data and blueprints to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists of cost estimates.

  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, change order pricing, vendors or subcontractors agreement, and determining cost effectiveness.

  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.

  • Consults with customers, subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

  • Assist the Pre-Construction Manager in coordinating the design and engineering between various engineers for the customers’ process, equipment and installation.

  • Assist the Pre-Construction Manager to develop project proposals.

  • Reviews and approves invoices and change orders.

  • Create and maintain departmental electronic files, forms, and brochures.

  • Compose and process routine correspondence.

  • Organize and maintain file system, and file correspondence and other records.

  • Coordinate proposal and bid package information.

  • Coordinate tracking contact status, vendor relations, meeting minutes.

  • Conduct research then compile statistical reports.

  • Coordinate and arrange meetings and events, including preparing agendas, reserving and preparing facilities, and transcription of meeting minutes.

  • Other duties may be assigned


 

 

Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, with two years of experience.


 


Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications.  Prefer experience with software applications specific to the estimating field (i.e. on-screen, etc.), but not required.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.


 


Supervisory Responsibilities


May indirectly supervises the activities of subcontractors and field personnel.
