This role will be based out of the Lexington, KY office.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Contractor Pre-Qualifications: Review all contractors pre-qualification documentation/information (OSHA 300 logs, EMR, Citations, Fatalities, Safety Manual etc.) prior to a contract being executed. This person will also be responsible to communicate directly to the contractor to request additional information or explanations on required information. Also, this person has the ability to approve contractors that meet the expectations and the ability to add additional requirements due to lagging indicators submitted during the pre-qual process.
  • Incident Reporting: The role requires the team member to review and approve all incidents that are completed in HammerTech. The team member is also responsible to review and edit the report if there are errors or missing information within the report. The team member may also be required to contact the composer of the incident report to ensure accurate information has been put into the report.
  • Statistics: This role will require the team member to keep up the safety statistics for Gray Construction (RIR, LTIR, SIF Rate etc.). This team member should be prepared to provide accurate updates for the Combined Staff Meetings, Board Meetings, 2:15pm Safety calls etc.
  • Staffing/Interviewing: This role will require the team member to partake in the interviewing process of prospective team members. They will be required to take notes and provide hiring recommendations to the Director, Safety. Also, the team member may be required to assist with staffing projects in execution and with future planning of projects in the bid phase.
  • Safety Policy Updates/Safety Manual: This role will require the team member to review and update the safety manual with changes and additions submitted by the safety team.
  • Event Management: This role will require the team member to assist in planning and booking safety events/outings for the safety team and occasionally sub-contractors. The team member will be required to make decisions for the event that will ensure an adequate setting (space, equipment etc.) for the scheduled event/outing.
  • Professional Development Management: This person will work with safety team members to locate and coordinate safety training and professional development classes to coincide with their annual review and goals set with their managers.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands or arms and talk or hear.  They may occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

 

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The new team member is required to have a bachelor’s degree in a safety related field with five years of experience in a safety position in the construction industry or 4 years of administrative experience with a construction company.
