Overview

Gray Construction is seeking an experienced Vice President for their Field Operations team.  This position will ideally be located in Lexington, Ky.

Who we want… (Requirements)

A bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of fifteen years of experience in field construction management. The equivalent of education and experience totaling twenty years, or more is acceptable.

 

Must possess advanced computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, and scheduling applications. May require knowledge of applications specific to the department. Must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

The new team member should be an energetic, highly self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.

 

Proven experience in strategic planning and execution

 

Strong leadership and team management skills

 

Analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills

 

Budget Management development experience

 

Ability to work in fast-paced dynamic environment

 

Leadership experience in construction field management highly preferred

What we expect… (Essential Functions):

 

Responsible for creating a strategy for Field Operations that will align with the vision of the business.  Developing detailed plans on a yearly basis; track progress of implemented plans and provide updates to leadership.

 

Analyze industry trends, strategies, and performance to identify areas to be improved and further develop Gray’s field operations.

 

Prepare regular reports on Field Operations to be presented to Gray leadership as required.

 

Grow and develop the leadership teams of Field Operations by providing guidance, support, and performance feedback. 

 

Develop and enforce processes and procedures within field ops that align to the goals and vision of the business.

 

Work with teams to develop proper training and development programs for field team members.

 

Develop and manage budgets for Field Operations ensuring effective resource use and implementing cost-control measures when necessary.

 

Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures within the Field Operations group.

 

Develop and maintain strong relationships with Markets Leaders, Customers, and team members at Gray by addressing concerns that arise.

 

Lead recruitment efforts that align with the Market strategies.  Individual will base their hiring based on yearly Market strategies and adjust monthly based project needs.  Individual will use the resource tracking software to track the resources within Field Operations.

 

Develop the Quality program within in Field Operations to align with the operational and/or corporate quality program.

 

Continued development of the service team to support more complex and larger projects and procurement offerings.

 

Routinely visit and review job sites to ensure adequate staffing and compliance with safety, quality and project expectations. Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.

 

Attend and participate in various committees and management meetings as necessary.

 

Provide internal and external promotion and alignment with Gray Construction’s safety, quality, and service programs.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands or arms and talk or hear.  They may occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

 

Normal office environment where noise level is moderate, and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required. Travel is required and occasional overnight stays.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages multiple subordinate supervisors who also supervise multiple team members. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Also directly supervises non-supervisory team members.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
