Gray Construction is looking to add a Commissioning Manager to their Field Operations Team.

What we expect (Essential Functions)

  • Oversee Site Commissioning staff and provide training for employee career advancement.
  • Meet with Project Directors, Project Executives, and Project managers at the onset of projects to establish commissioning scope, Commissioning resources, timelines and budgets.
  • Review Subcontract Exhibit A scope of work for commissioning to ensure commissioning scope is included and adequate for the project needs.
  • Train Site teams and subcontractors in the use of CxAlloy Commissioning database
  • Write Commissioning Plan. Assist in reviewing and approving commissioning plans.
  • Develop Commissioning database for projects, Setup Commissioning checklists, Provide User Access permissions to Database, Develop systems list, room lists, equipment lists from design documents, and submittal data and import data into database. Manage database for project.
  • Perform Commissioning Audits on project sites to determine performance of commissioning activities of the site team resources and sub-contractors.
  • Generate Commissioning Status reports for each discipline and provide site team and subcontractors feedback on deficiencies.
  • Responsible for commissioning and overseeing the installation of various equipment, plants and systems on site. They ensure products are working according to their specifications and meet the clients need. Oversees all disciplines
  • Manage and execute commissioning checklists and equipment status in the commissioning database
  • Engauge Trade Partners to provide startup reports, test reports, IOMs, Spare Parts Lists.
  • Lead on site commissioning meetings with site team and subcontractor resources
  • Work with Site team to assist in the development of commissioning schedule.
  • Attend Pre-construction meetings and lead discussion on roles and responsibilities for commissioning.
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of costs and fees associated with the commissioning services Gray offers.
  • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the impact caused by multiple changes in either the design, engineering or construction phases and how they impact the commissioning activities, from the cost, schedule, construction management and construction operations perspectives.
  • Must be knowledgeable of when and how to address these issues with customers and internal Gray stakeholders.
  • Must be sufficiently knowledgeable in technical aspects of commissioning and design disciplines to represent Gray as the "primary point of contact" in initial project discussions with customers regarding commissioning.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

 

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may indirectly or directly supervise other members of the commissioning team.

 

Who we want (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and a minimum of eight years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize CxAlloy, and other commissioning-based software, word processing, spreadsheet and email applications. May also require working knowledge of scheduling and/or estimating applications.
  • Travel 30-50% is required
  • Must have a minimum of six continuous years of project management and or commissioning experience.
  • Must have minimum of two years’ experience managing all disciplines for commissioning projects, Including developing commissioning scope.
  • Must have three years’ experience in setting up CxAlloy Commissioning databases for all disciplines. Must have developed and maintained written commissioning plans on at least five projects.
  • Must be able to mentor and/or train other project staff, such as commissioning - project managers, Commissioning - assistant project managers(s) or other team members. Includes providing guidance to the junior project manager while they manage a project(s) on their own.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain harmonious relationships with owners, co-workers, vendors, suppliers, and community.

 

This position requires travel as our projects are scattered throughout the United States and, in some cases outside of the U.S..  The selected candidate can live anywhere in the USA, but would be required to travel to the project site per Gray’s travel policy.
